3 Autumn Invaders in Your Home

When the weather starts to cool down, pests that live outside of your home will make their way inside for warmth. Other than the usual bugs and insects that will squeeze their way into your humble abode, there are other pests you should also be concerned with this fall.

Bats
A bat can occasionally find its way into your home, usually through a hole that leads into the attic or in the walls. The dangerous thing about bats (besides the possibility of rabies) is the threat of a colony. A single bat can lead to an infested attic filled these winged creatures. Patch up any holes in your home with metal mesh and call your local exterminator if being a bat wrangler isn’t your forte.

Snakes
These slithering pests can be a pain in the fall because your home is the perfect place for them; usually the garage. When it’s warm out during the day, snakes will look towards your home as a cool place to stay. At night when it’s cooler out, they will again look towards your home as a warmer place to stay. Be careful when attempting to remove a snake from your home as they will often bite in self-defense.

Rodents
Mice and rats are the peskiest of all non-insect pests since they are found so commonly in homes and businesses. The best way to keep your home free of these pests is to inspect your home for any holes and cracks, sealing them with metal mesh. You should also keep a clean house and keep trash in a tightly sealed container. When you discover a rat or mouse in your home, call for help immediately before it begins to reproduce.
