How to Avoid Insect Bites & Stings
There’s nothing more relaxing than spending the day outside, taking in some rays, and breathing in the fresh air. Unfortunately, there are a handful of bugs and insects that are capable of stinging and biting you. To avoid being harmed by these pests, you might want to…
Steer Clear of Sweet Perfume & Cologne
No one says you can’t smell nice, but if you’re going to be spending the day or evening outside, you may want to skip out on the perfume or cologne. Any fragrance with a sweet smell can attract pests toward you. If an insect is attracted to flowers, why wouldn’t it be attracted to your name brand fragrance?
Wear Colorless Clothing
Again, we don’t want to step out of line and tell you to dress in all black, but avoid brightly colored clothing while spending time outside. Wasps, bees, and mosquitoes are attracted to bright clothing and patterns like yellows, oranges, pinks, etc. So the next time you’re having a barbecue or picnic, choose a darker, earthy color scheme.
Keep Your Drink Covered
Sipping on a glass of iced tea while enjoying the weather outside sounds like a good way to spend a few hours. Just be sure to have a lid for your drink because insects (like fragrances and flowers) love the sweetness of them. Whether you have a resealable bottle or you simply cover your cup with a napkin, you’ll need something to keep pests away from your sweet and delicious beverage.
