Tips to Keep Rodents Away
Have you ever seen mice (or rats) in their little cages at the pet store — cute right?
Of course, until you see one of them running around your home causing a panic among your family!
Mice and rats should be kept out of the home unless they’re in a cage, and here’s how you can accomplish this.
Pest Police
The best way to rid your home of rodents is probably sitting next to you on the couch. A house cat, especially one that is familiar with the outside of your house, is effective at removing mice and rats from your home.
Not all cats know how to hunt, but there’s a pretty good chance that they will go after a mouse or rat if they see one.
Aromatherapy
There are some aromas that rodents hate more than anything, such as peppermint. Purchasing a small bottle of peppermint flavored oil and placing it around the house can drive any rodent out of your home.
Put some of this oil on a few cotton balls and place them near entrances, doors, windows, HVAC units, and any other small areas where only a rodent could fit.
Clean & Clear
A house with a mouse is usually a messy one indeed. The more spills and clutter there is, the higher chance you have of having rodents enter your home.
Try to keep food restricted to just the kitchen and make sure to clean up any spills or crumbs. Garbage must also be kept in fully sealed bags and thrown into a secure bin outside of the house.
Keep your home clean and rodents won’t find it as an appealing place to kick up their feet.
