Will Cleaning My Home Stop Pests?
Are you sick and tired of finding bugs and other pests inside of your home?
Well, it’s time to stand up, put your foot down, and scream “I’ve had enough!”
Once you’re done having your dramatic movie moment, take a half hour of your time and focus on cleaning your home.
Because showing it some extra love WILL help prevent pests.
Clean Up the Kitchen
Insects, rodents, and mostly all other pests are looking for food and water on this crazy rollercoaster ride we call life.
When you’re hungry, where do you go to look for food? The kitchen, of course! So why would a pest go anywhere different?
- While you could spend hours here cleaning, make sure you set aside time each day to:
- Put dirty dishes into the dishwasher
- Sweep the floor
- Wipe down countertops
- Take out the trash if it’s full
Make Room for the Vacuum
On a weekly basis, the house should be vacuumed. If you think that’s a bit much for you, at least hit the high-traffic rooms — like the front entryway, family room, and bedrooms.
Not only will vacuuming help remove dust and improve the indoor air quality, it will suck up any creepy crawlers.
Even though you might not see any bugs crawling around, there’s a good chance you could suck up any small larvae, or eggs that have yet to hatch.
Clear the Clutter
When you have a lot of clutter, like boxes on the floor, you’re creating more shelter and hiding places for pests.
Silverfish, rodents, spiders, and many other pests will head toward this cover. Keep all storage boxes and any other items off of the floor — preferably on shelving.
This goes for all rooms in the house, not just the garage or attic.
